The attending physician does know Ellie! What a relief! He met us back in the fall, in the ENT clinic. He knows what PWS is, recognizes that she clearly isn't herself, and is going to do what he can to figure out what is going on. He is goin to start an IV, draw blood for a bunch of tests, including a blood gas, because E is unusually hypotonic today. Chest X-ray, echo (she has a murmur again), snot test and bug panel. We are likely to be here a while, unless "she magically perks up, in which case we will still cover her in antibiotics before sending her home".
At present she is snoozing, and sad looking. She hasn't smiled at anyone once! So unlike her! Ugh, not looking forward to the IV. It will likely go in her head again.

So sorry Susanne, you have had more than your share of hospital visits this year! Perhaps your little sweetheart is just trying to get all visits out of the way early. Thoughts and prayers are with you, hoping the stay isn't too long.
ReplyDeletePraying for you guys! I hope Ellie is back to her old self soon. (((HUGS)))
ReplyDeleteThank you, Catherine! I hope so too :)
DeleteOh geesh :( poor Ellie! Why do they want to start an IV? I usually don't let them give Gemma one but then again she has a gj-tube so we can give her antibiotics, fluids, etc. right away. Sometimes I have to argue. Thinking of all of you. We'll probably see you up there tomorrow :( Feel better Ellie!
ReplyDeleteAmanda- they didn't end up using the IV for anything!! Next time, I'm going to say "no", unless it's absolutely required. Hope both our girls get better, but if not, we will have a little TCU party :)
